Central Park asks for Geocache Removal

I have exchanged email with the CP worker who asked that the UberCache be removed. He explained that his job is to look for and remove anything that looks like it is being used by homeless folks as shelter or a stash in the North Woods. He further explained that large objects frequently float along downstream until they jam up a drain or underground passage where the water must continue on. This causes quite a bit of trouble and flooding during rainstorms. So they try to remove any unnatural objects anywhere near the water. He said that he did not know of any policy about geocaching either way, but that he contacted the CO because he felt that type of container could not remain at that location. He doesn't know of any other caches in Central Park and hasn't searched the web site for them.
So we should all be safe.

I know 2 folks who have worked for and with the CPC for a long time. By contacting them and emailing the NY Admin, I was able to get in touch with this particular gentleman. I did not specifically ask him if he contacted the CO, but I know he sent an email to groundspeak using the contact information on the GC.com home page. I assume this was forwarded to the NY Admin. He did leave the cache in place and wait for the CO to come and remove it, which is more than I would have expected.
He went on to say that "Central Park is probably not the best place to hide caches (like this) because we are very thorough (with our clean up)". But he bothered to look at the website first becasue he thought it was "a very cool concept".

I don't think any of our geocaches that are less than Uber-sized are in any danger of getting "cleaned up".
