Re: Child Waypoints

I do like parking waypoints. I haven't spent a lot of time caching outside of the five boroughs, but when I do I'm generally out of my element so a little help on the starting line for a big hike is appreciated. I don't see it quite as useful for urban caching - if every city cache includes a few ...

Re: Central Park asks for Geocache Removal

... is my take on the Ubercache... Things that make me sad: - One of the best caches in the City, bar none, has been archived Things that make me a little less sad: - The CPC didn't freak out; they sent a polite email to Groundspeak - The quick response by Groundspeak and C-Ville Elite may have ...

Re: Central Park asks for Geocache Removal

... that the owner didn't live in the area and had dropped the cache off while in town for a convention or event of some sort. It surprised me a little, as the cache was only a couple of months old. In fairness the CO is very prolific (3000 finds, 100 hides) and he could probably make it to the ...

Re: New iPhone and Geocaching

... the new iPhone suggested that one reason a GPS in the iPhone was not a lock (perhaps even unlikely) was that the new iPhone would have to be a little thicker than the old version and there might not be enough demand for GPS technology to justify that design change. That they actually came out ...

It must not be about the numbers...

My brother's cache just got its second find since 2003. It's a little hard to get to, so I'd expect the next smiley to come along in about 2012 or thereabouts... But the view is nice! Zeto Point Weirdly, both logs only have one find to their credit. But ...

Re: On Location NYC - A new geocache series in NYC

... when I read this chain of posts. Welcome Bill! I actually just published a new addition to the series - On Location NYC - Seinfeld and gave you a little shout out in the cache description. Some pretty good FTF / 2TF / 3TF prizes if I do say so myself, so get out there and grab this one!

Conflicts with Hidden Stages

... on an entertaining description, etc. - I don't know that I would be able to maintain my enthusiasm having to keep repeating that process with little constructive feedback. What I'm proposing is not for the admins to reveal the locations of hidden stages, but to be a lot more proactive in guiding ...

Re: New iPhone and Geocaching

Took it out for a little geocaching spin today. One-sentence summary - inadequate in many ways, but software development will probably cure much of it. - The accuracy of the GPS seems fine. I suspect that some of the physical limitations ...

Re: Manhattan's Oldest Cache Revived!

Yikes. New York is so dense that what are great hiding spots in other areas - off the trail, hidden from view - become a little trickier here, because someone else might be taking advantage of the seclusion (and might also be using the good "hiding spots" for their stuff). ...

Re: Metro NY Geocaching Society Geocoins!

... so far. We need just over 200 to fully pay for the mint run, but I'm guessing we'll be comfortable enough to send the order even if we fall a little short of that. (One important piece of information I left out before - we don't have the kind of PayPal account that can easily accept credit-card ...

Re: Here is why I love geocaching....

... is part of what drove me to try to clear Manhattan - I figured that if I managed to do that at least once, maybe caching in the city would be a little more fun/laid-back. (So far so good on that front...) But also like Tatanka, I do tend to have richer cache experiences when I travel. For one ...

Re: Check you cache logs

But then again, what does it matter? It's the principle. We have rules in this little hobby of our's. I play by the rules and if you find my caches I expect you to do the same. If you can't sign the log, which is clearly stated for the type of caches that I hide, ...
