Re: Cache Stats?

... system would have some promise in general. Especially if you could perform refined searches for caches that achieve certain rating criteria; when going on vacation it would be nice to search not just on location and difficulty but also on awesomeness. I don't know much about the technical side ...

Good GPSr for Schools?

... GPSr model they should get. Any suggestions for a GPSr that would be appropriate for this use? I'm thinking kid-friendliness and cost are both going to be salient issues. (I mean, I love - LOVE - my 60csx, but I'm guessing the school would rather have three almost-as-good cheaper models than ...

Re: New iPhone and Geocaching

I have two concerns... The first is what CoA has already mentioned, that it's not clear exactly how much Apple is going to be allowing folks to provide "real time" GPS navigation (as opposed to more "poke" type applications, like "see which of your friends ...

Re: mygeocachingprofile.com

... had to go through them online, I had a round about knowledge of what caches it was (1 had eluded me for a few days). Probably the best thing to do going forward is to include a FTF line item in your GC.com profile, so if anything you have it somewhere Another idea is to create a non-public bookmark ...

Re: Cache Placement Etiquette

... But it may be like a lot of other groundspeak guidelines - how your local reviewer navigates the gray areas on any given day is just what's it's going to be. (Some reviewers are extremely strict about the 528-foot guideline, for example, while other reviewers can be flexible given a good reason ...

Announcing... Dastardly Pathtags!

... and annoying. And some of the puzzles in New York are so hard it's just not fun. Plus, solving a mind bender at your desk just isn't the same as going for a nice walk outside. We hear you, we really do! So, we're doing something about it. No, we're not going to stop publishing puzzle caches. ...

Re: Interested in finding an "unpublished" cache?

... hider, but I've been doing it for long enough that I know to check my locations with New York Admin before doing any further work on them, only going forward once I've been given the all-clear. But how would a new cacher know to do that? I've seen a handful of otherwise enthusiastic cache hiders ...

Great cache idea, ready to do it, need location...

... that I know New York State is in need of. I've posted in the forums regarding the idea and to make sure it didn't already exist here. Without going into too much detail, it's gonna be great and I hope to even mint a run of trackable coins designed for the first hundred or so people to complete ...

Re: Ever hear of "Meet Up" -- April 5 3 pm

... the hike, finds the cache and leaves it at that. Not how I play, but I can see it. Yeah I guess this is true. I have many friends who have fun going along with me for the hunt and working on my goals without needing to log anything. Most of the time, the ones that do open an account and log ...

Re: Maps for Garmin Etrex Vista HCx

... for driving to a cache and getting close, just the Topo will not give turn by turn directions. Topo is possibly handier when it comes to hiking or going off roads not labeled on most maps though so I at least can see elevation changes and so forth. Would the Topo map be the recommended choice over ...

FTF Etiquette

... I knew where the new cache is. So what do I do? Do I go out and sign the log BEFORE the cache is published? Well, I didn't go out - it seemed that going after a cache before it was published might be viewed as wrong. Or is it? After all from publicly available information on geocaching.com I was ...

... (a bother for long cache descriptions) vs via a menu choice on the Colorado. Somewhere there a side-by-side comparison. I thought the OS was going to be identical ... but I was sold by the touch screen and on/off road toggle ... even though you can't easily use the Oregon with one hand!!!

I thought I tried everything. It has been so consuming that perhaps, for the first time, I took a vicarious ...
