Re: Whereigo

Speaking solely from my own little corner of geek-dom, I actually think this could be amazing. I love this kind of stuff. I solved Zork when I was a kid and then re-solved it on my Treo as an adult. I totally dig on puzzle hunts. Have designed two of ...

I've actually solved this one but haven't had the chance to go claim it yet. Bag End by Harry Dolphin and Andy Bear 22 smilies. None of them are me, unfortunately. ...

Re: New iPhone and Geocaching

... have to be a little thicker than the old version and there might not be enough demand for GPS technology to justify that design change. That they actually came out with a slimmer design, but with GPS capabilities, makes me suspect that the iPhone's GPS will be relatively weak. Garmin may not be ...

Re: old cache still alive!

... It wasn't clear to me that the cache being maintained was actually at the original groundspeak coordinates, but it seems that you're saying that that's exactly where it is. Maybe with my head and heart not ...

Re: New iPhone and Geocaching

Saw this on Engadget. Interesting that the GPS capabilities were actually demo'd w.r.t. geocaching (or as they call it, "geo-caching"). I hear that even though it has GPS I can't use it as a nav unit, what's up with that? According to the SDK agreement, ...

Re: Geocaching profiled in Rivertowns Enterprise

Nice article - they got some stuff a little off, but got it better than most journalists seem to. I actually like it when they refer to people's real names in this kind of coverage... I think to the outside world we come across as a lot fringier than we really are when the ...

Re: I've Watched the Watchmen

... Alan Moore's personality, give it a click (find the link to "WATCH THIS MOVIE"): http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/485797 - I actually didn't mind the changed ending. I'm very hesitant to mess with the creator's vision, but I respect that when you switch mediums you have choices ...

Graveyard Caches

... submitted with a fraudulent ID. I don't know if this sixth one was retracted because it was a cemetery cache or if that's coincidental and it was actually retracted for a different reason. (For those unfamiliar, a retraction is like an archival except that it's as if the cache never existed - ...

Re: Need a creative solution

Just happened to me this week actually. I had gone so far as to build the container and paint it the exact shade of blue to match, but realized when I brought it to GZ that my chosen spot was decidedly non-ferromagnetic. (Sigh).

Re: Governors Island GC1xc69

That is really interesting! I've always assumed that GI was off limits, and when that cache popped up I actually emailed a couple of people out of excitement... and then it got archived and I figured I had been right all along. But what you're saying... that's really interesting! ...

Re: 2nd Oldest NYC Cache about to go

I just reread the OP. "happily" laid to rest seems to indicate that your thread was actually just letting us know the status of the cache and not some sort of call to action to do something about it, or was it? Yeah, I think you read it right. It seems like ...

Re: The Necessity of Signing the Log

... living up to the rules by bleeding on my logbook. I do have a cache where there is some language about being required to sign the log, but it's actually intended to be a subtle hint to the hide rather than a strong-form declaration of the rules.

Re: newbie question on hiding a cache - semipublic

... it could go either way. The best advice I can give you is to approach your local reviewer with the situation and present your case - BEFORE you actually submit the cache for approval. I've found, both through my own experiences and through hearing about others', that the rules and guidelines ...

Re: The Other Game......

... back, but I didn't fully grok the LB nature of it at the time. I have a clue for a puzzle cache that shares space with a LB. The other owner and I actually tussled back and forth for a week or two, me not realizing that her item was a LB, and her not realizing that my item as a GC clue. We eventually ...
