Any interesting obstacles to overcome when looking for a cac

I created a cache where the "seeker" has to cross a stream balancing on two logs:

Image

Have you had to overcome an obstacle(s) to access an area where there is a cache?

Geocaching and Orienteering combined?

Has anyone thought of or mentioned combining geocaching with orienteering where people would have to run to find a designated number of hides (let's say in a 10 square mile area) in the fastest time? I guess using a digital camera to show pics of each hide would ...

Military Containers and Geocaching in NYC

... for NYC caching in general. My (unsolicited) advice: Let's try to rotate out of military-style containers and use transparent containers where possible. I like to use containers from The Waterproof Store; they're about the size of decon containers, they're waterproof (duh) and see-through, ...

Re: Conflicts with Hidden Stages

... three choices, notifies the hider who then has a few days to make the actual hide? That works out fine as long as you are hiding in an urban area where most of the hide locales are an easy walk, but it wouldn't work out in the rest of the world where it would add another (sometimes lengthy) hike ...

Re: Conflicts with Hidden Stages

Aw, man, this is a real bummer. I think I know where the confusion is. podcacher.com is a popular site that promotes both podcasts about geocaching, and podcaching , which is a variation on geocaching that uses audio clues to find the hidden containers. ...

Re: Whatever happened to....

The NY admin disabled one of Concrete Rat's caches today, "Where's the Grid", due to a "concerned geocacher" emailing him. That was a blindlingly fast disable by the admin - it was found three days ago, just needs a new log. I don't ...

Re: Ever hear of "Meet Up" -- April 5 3 pm

... The way he explained it to me, he likes geocaching but isn't fired up about keeping score, and doesn't really need or want to publish to the world where he's been. So he downloads the coords, enjoys the hike, finds the cache and leaves it at that. Not how I play, but I can see it.

Re: FTF Etiquette

Having scouted it ahead of time, knowing exactly where it was placed, and also understanding the peculiar security implications of NYC geocaching and the sensitivity of the UN, I will have to disagree ...

Re: Boy Scouts and Geocaching

... this would be a great place/idea for a cache!" they usually turn out nicely. When caches start out as "Geez, I have to figure out where to put 136 (or 50, or 30) new containers because of a big marketing push" they often don't. I think you're right to question TPTB on this ...

Re: Prep Time

I actually think I'm a bit of an idiot. I have put myself in a few situations where I'm alone, caching in an unfamiliar neighborhood, and in retrospect these were mistakes (although nothing has ever happened). I often think back to this log, by a cacher who got ...

Re: The Dolphin don't go where the Dolphin ain't wanted

That would be a big bummer. I disagree with the ban and would lose good geocaches I like. Bloomberg probably likes the idea of getting rid of geocaches and so kills two birds with one stone.

Great.
