Re: Interested in finding an "unpublished" cache?

... them if they could find it if they were in the vicinity and interested. That's the only way I can find out if what I think is a clever hide is really as clever as I think. Wonder if we could have a sub-forum here on this site for us locals to post caches which don't meet the strict guidelines ...

Puzzles Anyone?

... of the NY Metro Area GC Society is that it's a subway theme... This is also a good opportunity to plug puzzle caches in general. There are some really good ones in the area that should be getting more traffic. Some of the best of the bunch (within 10 miles of Manhattan, beyond which it's difficult ...

Re: Bridges, "Rock and Roll" (GC19FHX), "Handy Relief" (GC19NF1)

... I think we and the New York Admin have a lot to gain by respecting that. I would much rather play nice with New York authorities over things they really care about (caches on bridges, caches on federal mailboxes, etc.) so that they'll continue to play nice with us over things that they don't (caches ...

Re: Puzzles Anyone?

I'm not sure I have quite enough experience with geocaching puzzles to have a favorite type yet... But I can say that in general, I really enjoy meta-puzzles (where the pieces fit together to form a whole). The old Cliff Johnson games for the Mac were pretty ground-breaking in that regard. ...

Not Signing the Logbook

... I think part of the reason is that people (most of them tourists on a schedule) have been very respectful and careful when hunting this one, and I really do appreciate that the emailer didn't put his personal glory ahead of the cache's safety. But I can't deny that sending a photo of the assumed ...

Re: Five Star New York cache

... I feel like I'm between 80-90% of the way there. I've had at least one major Aha! moment, but obviously there is still work to be done. Haven't really picked it up and hacked at it in a few weeks. I might have to dust off my notes and take another look and see if a fresh perspective helps. Hopefully ...

Re: Geocoin trouble

... Merge ran into isn't that uncommon - sometimes people will go two, three, four weeks or more before logging that they picked up a coin. I can't really explain it, except that vacationing cachers sometimes wait until they are back home to log everything they did all at once. To buttaskotch's ...

Third year in a row I'll be out of town for the event. Actually the fourth, but I wasn't really caching in 2005 so didn't know about it. (Sigh).

It must not be about the numbers...

... logs only have one find to their credit. But they each emailed my brother with the secret pass phrase in the cache, so we're pretty confident they really did visit. ETA - you'll have to pan out quite a bit on the Google Map to get a sense for where this thing is...
