8th Annual Manhattan Proto-Picnic Event

... on with others in time for the event. There are open outdoor tables at the Le Pain Quotidien in Central Park (it's not a fancy restaurant - it's a little outdoor snack café area) and we'll meet there informally. It's a "Proto" Picnic because you're not required to bring food! And Central ...

Interested in finding an "unpublished" cache?

... I'm very curious to find out if what I think is a clever hide is actually quite mundane? The hint was: "How high is your reach?" It's a little wet around the GZ but the cache isn't in any water or submerged. It must be very frustrating to create a great hide and have it rejected. It ...

Re: Whereigo

Speaking solely from my own little corner of geek-dom, I actually think this could be amazing. I love this kind of stuff. I solved Zork when I was a kid and then re-solved it on my Treo as an adult. I totally dig on puzzle hunts. Have designed ...

Re: Whereigo

... Some of my initial enthusiasm for the Wherigo concept has definitely worn off in the last day or two as I've looked a little closer. I haven't seen anything so far where the ratio of "fun" to "technical mumbo-jumbo, limitations and bugs" is quite ...

Military Containers and Geocaching in NYC

... someone has used one to make a bomb. If I were the NYC authorities and I found one of these planted in an urban area, I'd probably be a little freaked out. And after the hullaballu over the Cartoon Network marketing stunt last year (arrests, fines, etc.): http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,249110,00.html ...

greyhoundlawyer is leaving us!

I noticed today that several of greyhoundlawyer's caches have been adopted, and after digging a little deeper I saw from some of his logs that he is moving. Our loss is DC's gain. Many of my earliest finds were greyhoundlawyer caches on the Upper West Side and in Central ...

Re: Puzzles Anyone?

... more like simple task completion than puzzle solving (plugging numbers into an equation isn't much of a puzzle for me). Obviously the lines are a little blurry and these types of caches share characteristics with both listing types. I also may be more likely to reference the cache page before ...

Not Signing the Logbook

I got an interesting email today. It was a little difficult to understand because although it was in English, it was written by a native French speaker. I would like to add that he did a far better job of writing in English than I ever would have ...

Re: Good GPSr for Schools?

Great, thanks for the suggestion. I saw that the HC model is on Amazon for only $137, which I am leaning towards even though it's a little more expensive... Not for the color so much as the USB connectivity (they have a Mac in the classroom so I think the PC serial cable is a non-starter). ...

Most definitely not a major bridge, not a terrorism target, etc. etc. etc. It's just an insignificant little span in Nowhere, Idaho that nobody cares about. http://www.fs.fed.us/r4/boise/emmett/elibrary/rainbowbridge.jpg Long story short, when the authorities ...
