... so hope it suits! We hope to get your advice on local caches and to move along some TBs and geocoins that we'll bring with us from Ireland. We could also trade pathtags if possible The event is limited to 20 under local ordinance, but we'd be delighted to meet even a few of you while we are ...

A Chatty cache goes to New York

... the time we get to New York we will have visited Portland, Seattle, Vancouver, Banff, Calgary & Edmonton, and many more places in between. We couldn't miss this opportunity to re-visit New York, first time here as cachers though, and spend some time doing: GC17MX1- Bridges & Arches Cache ...

Geocaching and Orienteering combined?

... The geographical area would only be announced a day before the event to prevent participants from reconnoitering the topograhy of the area. One could use a topo map and/or a GPSr with built in topo maps to determine the most efficient approach to finding all the hides. Ther total distance to ...

Have you been secretly observed by another cacher?

... initially saw him, I just continued to ride by and as far as I know he didn't see me but if he went back to his car in the nearby parking area, he could have had a pair of binoculars and just waited to see if anyone else came by and watch what they were doing? I'm being paranoid, right? :-)

Re: Interested in finding an "unpublished" cache?

... since anyone posted anything about it? I also sent a request to 2 other cachers I hold in high esteem about my situation and asked them if they could find it if they were in the vicinity and interested. That's the only way I can find out if what I think is a clever hide is really as clever as ...

Re: Whereigo

Speaking solely from my own little corner of geek-dom, I actually think this could be amazing. I love this kind of stuff. I solved Zork when I was a kid and then re-solved it on my Treo as an adult. I totally dig on puzzle hunts. Have designed two of them for ...

Re: Must Have Free PC Software

Interesting that half of that list either currently or at one time could be downloaded in a bundle as part of the "Google Pack" (Trillian doesn't appear to be a part of their "pack" now, but it used to be). http://pack.google.com/ To that ...

Re: Cache Stats?

I can see how a peer rating system would have some promise in general. Especially if you could perform refined searches for caches that achieve certain rating criteria; when going on vacation it would be nice to search not just on location and difficulty but also on ...

Bridges, "Rock and Roll" (GC19FHX), "Handy Relief" (GC19NF1)

... the message that NY Admin posted on each cache page: Log Date: 2/29/2008 I have recieved the following email from a concerned geocacher. Fatts227 could you tell me if there are any legal issues accessing your cache. Could you also confirm you have permission to place this cache? If the cache is ...

Re: NY Admin strikes again!

What the NY Admin emailed you matches my recent experiences.

For New York Subway, I was asked to remove a link to the MTA web site. The linked page didn't sell MetroCards but it described where you could go to buy them. Luckily I was allowed to keep the link to the MTA subway map.

Re: On Location NYC - A new geocache series in NYC

There's a Men in Black cache and at least one Spiderman cache. But there could be many more from those movies, and of course one of the Law & Order shows is shooting on the streets almost every day. Actually I think those two are part of the same multi as ...

Re: I just HATE.....

... benches, and so not to mind us as we poked around. Not technically true, but it captured the spirit of the situation well in a way that the muggle could understand in 5 seconds instead of however long it would take to describe geocaching. He couldn't have cared less about what we were up to after ...

Re: Child Waypoints

I've never heard the term "child waypoint" before - although I've got a sense for it from context, in case I'm missing something could you tell me more about what it means?

Re: Child Waypoints

... I don't see it quite as useful for urban caching - if every city cache includes a few additional waypoints for nearby public transportation, it could get super cluttering for those who download pocket queries. Maybe the Metro group should hide a simple cache, and for that cache include a waypoint ...

Re: Central Park asks for Geocache Removal

... that the CO needs to be local. Well I'm glad this group has already solved that problem. I recently searched for a cache in California that I couldn't find, and given the description, hint and logs I strongly suspected that the cache was missing. I was going to email the owner about it, but ...
